255 - University Heights:
Back in the 1960s, Northern Arizona University was short of housing for professors so a group of them got together and developed this area. Take Beulah Boulevard south to the intersection of Lake Mary Road and you’ll be at the entrance. Streets are named for NAU professors. Many of the homes have interesting architecture.
At the front of the neighborhood are some townhomes built after 2000 and an apartment complex that was converted to condos beginning about five years later.
Newer subdivisions were added on the west and south ends of the original University Heights neighborhood. These are University Highlands and University Terrace in Flagstaff, Arizona.
260 - University Highlands:
In the late 1980s and early 1990s housing demand in Flagstaff, Arizona reached the point where expansion above University Heights made sense. Most locals refer to the resulting newer subdivisions and the older original area together as “University Heights.” University Highlands is reached by driving further up the University Heights loop from either entrance. The lots are generally smaller than in the original University Heights area, but some are as large as a quarter acre. DeMiguel Elementary School was built in the area.
